BONNER HEADING TO SACRED HEART

Press Release Newmarket Hurricanes forward Morgan Bonner (photo credit - Craig Campbell/HHOF) has confirmed his commitment to join the Sacred Heart University Pioneers beginning with the 2012-13 Atlantic Hockey season. The 5’10”, 180 lbs native of Aurora, Ontario recently completed his OJHL career having played all three seasons as a member of the Newmarket Hurricanes organization. Bonner joined the ‘Canes as an 18-year old in 2009-10, playing 13 games during his rookie season and recording nine points. He then helped the club capture the CCHL title, before ultimately falling to the OJHL champion Oakville Blades in the Buckland Cup Final. Last season, Bonner became one of the Hurricanes leaders on-and-off the ice, finishing second on the club with 28 goals and third in overall scoring with 54 points as Newmarket captured the OJHL regular season crown. The past season Bonner took his game to the next level, leading the team in scoring with 36 goals and 64 points, while finishing eighth overall in league scoring. His efforts throughout the season earned him a spot on the North Division All-Star Team that finished as runner-up at the inaugural Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was played in Smiths Falls, Ontario and following the season, he was named as runner-up to Dylan Goddard of the Cobourg Cougars as the OJHL’s Most Gentlemanly Player, recording only 16 minutes in penalties. Congratulations and best of luck to Morgan as he graduates to the next level!
