Robertson Cup schedule announced

Press Release

The final round of divisional playoffs came to a conclusion over the weekend and the North American Hockey League released the schedule for the 2012 Robertson Cup Tournament on Monday. The six qualifying teams were broken into two pools, with each team from Pool A playing each team from Pool B and vice-versa. Pool A features the Amarillo Bulls, St. Louis Bandits, and Port Huron Fighting Falcons while the Bismarck Bobcats, Fairbanks Ice Dogs, and Texas Tornado will be playing out of Pool B. Below, you can find a complete breakdown of the pool play section of the tournament. Start times during pool play are at 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. on all three days.

Port Huron vs. Fairbanks

St. Louis vs. Texas
All overtime Robertson Cup games, including those played during pool play, will be played using Sudden Death format. If the score is tied after three periods, the teams will go to their respective dressing rooms while the ice is resurfaced for a 20-minute overtime period. This process will repeat until a goal is scored.
The top two teams in each pool will advance to the semifinal round, to be played Monday, May 7th. Goal differential will be used as the first tiebreaker, while goal quotient will be used as the second tiebreaker. By dividing goals scored by goals allowed, positions will be determined based on the highest quotient.  However, should all three teams in one pool go 3-0, all teams from that pool will advance to the semifinals. The team with the best goal differential in the opposite pool will also move on to the semifinals. Similarly, if all three teams from one pool go 2-1, the same rules apply.

The Robertson Cup begins on Thursday, May 3rd, as Fairbanks gets set to defend their title and takes on St. Louis, who won three straight Robertson Cups from 2007-2009. That game is scheduled for a 12:30 faceoff.
