OIL KINGS' WILSON WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CALGARY, AB. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Edmonton Oil Kings forward Klarc Wilson is the WHL Player of the Week.

Wilson picked up five points, scoring one goal and four assists to go with a +4 rating in two games over the past week, helping the Oil Kings to a 2-0 series lead over the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship Series.

On Friday, April 20th, the Oil Kings hosted the Moose Jaw Warriors for the Eastern Conference Championship series opener at Rexall Place. Wilson scored one goal, added two assists and was named the games 2nd Star in the Oil Kings 6-1 win over the Warriors. Game two of the series went on Saturday, April 22nd; Wilson collected a pair of assists as the Oil Kings downed the Warriors by the same score of 6-1.

The Edmonton Oil Kings have a 2-0 series lead over the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship with the series shifting to Moose Jaw for games three and four, scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th and Wednesday, April 25th at 7:00pm MT at Mosaic Place.

Wilson, a 19 year old (born 1993) from Edmonton, AB, is playing his third full season in the WHL. Originally a 10th overall WHL Draft pick in 2008 by the Brandon Wheat Kings, Wilson was acquired by the Oil Kings in December 2009. He has appeared in 185 WHL regular season games collecting 62 points and 277 PIM’s.

The WHL has also nominated Laurent Brossoit of the Edmonton Oil Kings for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Brossoitposted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week, stopping 77 of 79 shots faced for a 1.00 goals-against average and 0.975 save percentage. Brossoit, a native of Surrey, BC, helped the Oil Kings jump out to a 2-0 series lead in the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship Series over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
