Waugh to wear the 'C'

Press Release

Powell River, BC– April 25, 2012 - The Kings are proud to announce that Teagan Waugh will be Captain of the 2012-2013 team.

Hailing from Nanaimo, Teagan joined the green and gold at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. Wearing number 8, Teagan consistently improved and developed as a forward over his three years with the team. He plays with heart and is always one of the hardest working players on the ice.

Kings' head coach and general manager Kent Lewis is confident in the choice to give the ‘C’ to Waugh. “He is the right fit for Captain, he has experience and maturity. Teagan is a tireless worker and he commits 100% to everything he does. He is respected in the room because of his passion and work ethic. He knows what our goals are and what we expect of a Captain. We are confident he will lead in a very good way.”

Waugh is excited to take on this new responsibility both on and off the ice noting, “It’s a great honour to be a Captain of the Kings’ franchise. It is great to be put in the ranks of guys like Mat Bodie, Matt Garbowsky, and Chris Williams. It is a big responsibility but I look forward to the opportunity to do so.”

Waugh goes on to say, “I’ll bring a hard work ethic to the rink everyday. The most important thing is that I want to lead by example.”

Congrats Teagan!
