Bussières, Trainor and Nishi named the TELUS three stars of the week

Press Release

Raphaël Bussières, Peter Trainor and Michael Nishi were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for November 12 to 18, 2012.

In 3 home games, Raphaël Bussières, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar forward, collected 10 points, including 4 goals. He has a total of 32 points this season in only 23 games. Wednesday, he was named the 2nd star of the game after collecting 1 goal and 3 assists (his 2nd career 4-point game) while his teammate, Petr Staka, managed to collect 5 points that same night. Saturday, in a 6-2 win, he scored 2 goals and added an assist while directing 5 shots on the opposing netminder; unsurprisingly, he was named the 1st star of the game. On Sunday, he helped tie a team record of 15 consecutive games without a regulation time loss. The Drakkar was just about to fall 5-4 when Bussières helped change things around by scoring a late goal and adding 2 assists. He was named the 3rd star of the game.

In 4 games, including 3 on the road, Peter Trainor of the Rimouski Océanic, tallied 8 points including 5 goals. On Wednesday, in a 5-4 win against the Quebec Remparts, Trainor was awarded the 2nd star of the game after having scored a goal and adding an assist on the winning goal scored by his teammate, Maxime Gravel. Friday, in a 4-3 shootout loss, he registered an assist on the game-tying goal scored late in the 3rd period against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Saturday, against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, he scored his 12th goal of the season in a 6-2 loss. Finally on Sunday, in a 5-4 victory over the Drakkar in overtime, he recorded the winning goal and was chosen as the 1st star of the game after having tallied 4 points (3+1). It was the first hat-trick of his career after 95 games.

During 2 road games, Michael Nishi, the Gatineau Olympiques goaltender, only allowed one goal ending the week with 2 wins including a shutout. He posted a 0.50 goals-against-average and his save pourcentage was .984. Friday, in a 4-1 win against the Sherbrooke Phoenix, he blocked everything during the first 59 minutes of the game, even though the opposing team had dominated 32-24 in shots on goal. Saturday, against the Cataractes once again dominated the Olympiques 29-17, but Nishi didn’t concede and earned his first shutout of the season 3-0.
