Press Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday, October 29, 2009 – The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today announced that the League and its member teams are extremely proud to once again take part in Veterans’ Week activities, which will take place in several arenas from November 5 to 11. The grand opening will be held in Victoriaville on Friday, October 30.
"The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is very proud to have the opportunity to underline Veterans’ Week alongside our Veterans for a fifth consecutive year," said the Commissioner. "Our Veterans’ heritage is rich in pride and history and we feel that it is very important to remember the sacrifices they have made for our great Country. The Memorial Cup, which is awarded since 1919, pays tribute to the Veterans of the First World War. In keeping with the tradition of the Memorial Cup, it is of the utmost importance that we remember their legacy and share it with future generations."
Puck-drop ceremonies to honour our Veterans will be held during these QMJHL games. Veterans will be on hand to partake in the presentations.

Every year, from November 5 to 11, Canadians celebrate Veterans’ Week to pay tribute to all those who have sacrificed themselves in order to make our world a safer place to live. With the help of young Canadians, we can ensure that the sacrifices and achievements of the men and women who have served our country will not fade from memory. This year, Canadians are invited to continue the traditions of Remembrance under the theme "How Will You Remember?" For more information, visit www.vac-acc.gc.ca.
