Wildcats' Ledford decides on Bentley

Press Release

The Wichita Falls Wildcats have announced that defenseman Zach Ledford has committed to Bentley University (Atlantic Hockey) for next season.

Ledford, from Folsom, Calif., has appeared in eight games since being acquired from the Wenatchee Wild in a September trade. The 19-year-old has two goals through 10 games this season.

“It’s one of the top-five business schools in the country," Ledford said of Bentley, which is located in Waltham, Mass. "And that’s what I want to do after my hockey career is over."

Wildcats head coach John Bowkus is enthusiastic about Ledford’s commitment to the Division I ranks.

"We’re very excited that Zach has committed to Bentley," he said. "In only a short time with our team, he’s brought energy and enthusiasm, on and off the ice, for our entire organization."

At Bentley, Ledford will join former Wildcats forward Brett Hartung, who is currently a freshman with the Falcons.

"They have a pretty good team there," Ledford said. "They compete well every year against some tough competition."

Ledford is the second player from this year’s Wildcats team to commit to a Division I program, joining forward Aaron Quick (Air Force Academy).
