Sarnia, ON – Today it has been announced that naming rights for the former Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre have been granted to Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).

Formerly known as the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre (SSEC) the new official name will be the RBC Centre.

“RBC is thrilled with the unveiling of the RBC Centre in Sarnia,” said Brian Henderson, RBC regional vice president for Lambton-Kent. “RBC has a long history of supporting the Sarnia community, including our proud partnership with the Sarnia Sting organization. The RBC Centre enhances our involvement in the community and we look forward to years of hockey games, concerts and community events in the RBC Centre.”

“Royal Bank has always been a partner with this facility over the past 10 years, the Sarnia Sting over the past 15 years and our community,” stated RBC Centre and Sarnia Sting President Larry Ciccarelli. “We look forward in strengthening this relationship by elevating the profile, both locally and nationally, of this multi-use, community based facility.”

City Manager Lloyd Fennel proclaimed, “The City of Sarnia congratulates the newly named RBC Centre, the Sarnia Sting and the Ciccarelli’s in achieving this milestone. They have all worked hard to partner with a significant entity to which they would grant naming rights. We wish everyone success as we begin this new era for the Sting at the RBC Centre”.
