Press Release

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the seventh week of the 2010-11 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Matt Berry of the Muskegon Lumberjacks, named CCM Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Blake Doerring of the Des Moines Buccaneers, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Brady Hjelle of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders who earned honors as the Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Berry recorded seven points (4g, 3a) and posted a plus-six rating in three games for the Lumberjacks. He tallied a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in the 5-3 win over Chicago on Tuesday. The 18-year-old from Canton, Michigan dished out two assists in the 5-4 overtime loss to Des Moines on Friday before scoring the lone goal for Muskegon in Saturday's 4-1 loss. Berry is currently riding a five-game point streak in which he has amassed 11 points (6g, 5a) and plus-10 rating over that span. The first-year USHL forward is tied for fourth in League scoring with 16 points (8g, 8a) thru 13 games.

Doerring dished out three assists and earned a plus-three rating, helping the Buccaneers extend their winning streak to six games. He collected a career high three assists, including a helper on the game-winning goal, in Saturday's 7-2 win over Waterloo. The 19-year-old also posted a game high plus-five rating which equaled a USHL season high. Doerring is a native of Chanhassen, Minnesota and is competing in his second USHL season after scoring nine points (2g, 7a) in 59 games split between Des Moines and Fargo in 2009-10.

Hjelle recorded two weekend victories, including a shutout, to extend his winning streak to four games for the RoughRiders. He made 25 saves in the 3-2 win over Fargo on Friday before turning away all 29 shots he faced in the 4-0 win against Sioux City on Saturday. It was the second shutout of the season for the 20-year-old. Hjelle has lost just once in nine starts this season and leads all USHL goaltenders with eight victories. The native of International Falls, Minnesota has compiled a 1.90 goals-against-average and a .924 save percentage this season.
