Carroll surpasses 100 point plateau

Press Release

For the first time in six years, the NOJHL (Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League) can boast a 100-point scorer. Yet it seems highly unlikely that Sudbury Cubs' forward Jordan Carroll will remain alone in that category by the end of this year.

The 20-year old Sudbury native who played much of his minor hockey in Valley East netted a pair of goals last Saturday against the Blind River Beavers, including the game-winning tally to surpass the century mark in the process.

Carroll, who played 107 OHL games as a member of the Sault Greyhounds and another 20 in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats, tops the NOJHL scoring charts these days, racking up 101 points in just 36 games with the Cubs.

The 2011-2012 campaign is actually the second go around in the NOJHL for the smooth skating forward. As a 16 year-old, Carroll suited up with the North Bay Trappers, appearing in 50 games and registering 26 points, including 14 goals.

This year, he was united as part of an impressive trio in Sudbury, all of whom could draw on junior "A" hockey experience. Centering a line with Jamie Haines and Nick Esposto for much of the year, Carroll has combined with his linemates to 262 points to date, with all three players likely to crack the 100-point barrier.

With Marc-Alain Begin a virtual shoe-in in Abitibi, and linemate Richard Therrien and Micky Sartoretto of the Soo Thunderbirds within striking distance, the club stands to become quite crowded before the end of the 2011-2012 campaign.
