Cooper scoops Player of the Week nod with dramatic game-winner

Trail Smoke Eaters forward Erik Cooper has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 22, the league announced on Monday.

Cooper scored a dramatic, double-overtime penalty shot goal on the road to defeat the Salmon Arm SilverBacks. He wound up with two goals and an assist in the win.

The Anchorage, Alaska helped the Smokies to a 2-1 record and totaled two goals and three assists for the week.

Honourable mentions this week go to Nanaimo Clippers forward Dan Correale (three goals, 1st Star, 2nd Star), Nanaimo Clippers goalie Billy Faust (two wins, 63 saves on 67 shots, 1.97 GAA), Chilliwack Chiefs forward Malcolm Gould (two goals, three assists, 2nd Star) and Penticton Vees goalie Michael Garteig (two wins, one shutout, .43 saves on 44 shots, 0.50 GAA).
