Cousins signed by Flyers

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is extremely pleased to announce that centreman NICK COUSINS (3rd Rd, 2011 NHL - 68th overall) has been signed to an entry-level 3 year contract by the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers

"As an organization we are very proud for Nick and his family. It is our job to ensure that we have a development model in place that allows every player to maximize his ability if he puts forth the effort required to do so.
This season Nick developed both on and off the ice and today's commitment to him by the Philadelphia Flyers shows that Nick's combination of natural ability and hard work can pay off" explained Hounds GM Kyle Dubas.

Cousins, the Hounds 2nd Round pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection is coming off a banner season with the club.
In 65 games played, the Belleville ON product had 35 goals and 53 assists good for 88 points as the team's scoring leader. (6th overall in the OHL).

Additionally, Cousins was a member of Team OHL at the Subway Super Series held in the Soo and capped off the year with a trio of team awards; Top Scorer, Regular Season MVP and Three Star Award.

"This is a dream come true for me and my family and I'm thrilled to be a part of the Philadelphia Flyers organization" stated Cousins when reached at home on Monday Night.

"I have to thank the Soo Greyhounds organization, from the coaching staff on, for the amount of trust they have put in me and for giving me the opportunity I had this year. I wouldn't have gotten to this point without them.

Cousins will now report to the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL (American Hockey League) on an Amateur Tryout contract.
The Phantoms have nine games remaining on the regular season schedule and sit 3rd in the Northeast Division.
