RoughRiders Defenseman Commits to Brown University

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Nathan Widman has committed to play collegiate hockey at Brown University following his USHL career.

Widman has put up eight points (2g, 6a) in 49 games for the RoughRiders this season. He was acquired by the team from Omaha in late October and scored a goal in his first game for Cedar Rapids, a 4-3 win against Lincoln. The defenseman began his USHL career with the Omaha Lancers last season and recorded six points (1g, 5a) in 48 regular season games. The 19-year-old from Naperville, Illinois has played over 100 games in his USHL career and totaled 14 points (3g, 11a).

Three other current USHL players are committed to play hockey at Brown University; Kevin Roy (Lincoln Stars), Nick Lappin (Tri-City Storm), and Mark Naclerio (Waterloo Black Hawks).

Brown University is a member of the ECAC and had four USHL alumni on the roster for the Ivy League school this season; Anthony Borelli (Lincoln Stars), Michael Juola (Sioux Falls Stampede), Jimmy Siers (Waterloo/Lincoln), and Matt Wahl (Omaha Lancers).
