Bucs Forward Commits to Western Michigan University

The Des Moines Buccaneers announced that forward Willem Nong-Lambert has committed to play college hockey at Western Michigan University following his USHL career.

Nong-Lambert has collected 20 points (12g, 8a) in 32 games with the Buccaneers this season.  He leads the team with 12 goals and is tied for the team lead with a plus-nine rating.  Earlier this season, the forward put together a six-game goal streak, netting seven total goals from November 8-21 which included a two-goal game in the 8-6 win over Waterloo on November 16th.

The 18-year-old began the season with the Green Bay Gamblers before being acquired in a trade in early October which brought the Urbandale, Iowa back home to play hockey.  He began playing hockey in the Des Moines Youth Hockey program before playing in the Des Moines Capitals high school program.
Nong-Lambert is joined by Buccaneers teammates Luke Shiplo and Corey Schueneman who are also committed to Western Michigan University.  Seven other current USHL players also have plans to attend the school; Chris Dienes (Fargo Force), Butrus Ghafari (Fargo Force), Sheldon Dries (Green Bay Gamblers), Kyle Novak (Green Bay Gamblers), Austin Hervey (Indiana Ice), Mike McKee (Lincoln Stars), and Michael McCarron (Team USA).

Western Michigan University is a member of the CCHA and has 20 USHL alumni on the roster, tied for the most of any school in the conference; Chase Balisy (Team USA), Brett Beebe (Chicago/Waterloo), Shane Berschbach (Indiana Ice), Dennis Brown (Omaha/Lincoln), Luke Witkowski (Fargo Force), Nick Pisellini (Chicago Steel), Ben Miller (Waterloo Black Hawks), Dane Walters (Sioux Falls Stampede), Alex Carpenter (Tri-City/Chicago), Robert Francis (Green Bay Gamblers), Garrett Haar (Fargo Force), Will Kessel (Green Bay Gamblers), Justin Kovacs (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Jordan Oesterle (Sioux Falls Stampede), Matt Stewart (Green Bay Gamblers), Dan DeKeyser (Sioux City Musketeers), Mike Cichy (Indiana/Tri-City), Kenny Morrison (Omaha Lancers), Colton Hargrove (Fargo Force), and Nolan LaPorte (Green Bay Gamblers).
