CAST A BALLOT FOR BRANDON'S FANS CHOICE AWARD

Brandon, Manitoba -- Shoppers Drug Mart is pleased to announce plans to give western Manitoba hockey fans the opportunity to choose the Brandon Wheat Kings' Fans Choice Award for the 2012-13 Western Hockey League season.

Beginning this weekend, fan balloting will be available at both Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Brandon as well as online at www.wheatkings.com. Wheat Kings' fans can also cast a vote by visiting BDO Fan Services during all Wheat Kings' home games at Westman Place, beginning Wednesday, January 30th when the Saskatoon Blades pay another visit to Brandon.

The Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 13th at midnight, with the winner to be unveiled during Fan Appreciation and Awards Night on Saturday, March 16th when the Wheat Kings close out the regular season against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.

Recent winners of the hockey club's Fans Choice Award have included the likes of Michael Ferland (2012), Scott Glennie (2011), Matt Calvert (2010) and Keith Aulie (2009). While Ferland is currently skating with the Memorial Cup Host Saskatoon Blades and Glennie is with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League, Calvert and Aulie are playing with the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets and Tampa Bay Lightning respectively.

This marks the seventh season that Shoppers Drug Mart has served as the Title Sponsor of the Wheat Kings' Fans Choice Award.

On the ice, the Wheat Kings kick off a busy three game in three night weekend this Friday night in Red Deer against the Rebels. Winners of three of their last five games, the Wheat Kings are currently eleven points back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the WHL's Eastern Conference.
