Cents forward Harper clutch on the road, earns Gongshow POW award

Merritt Centennials forward Silvan Harper has been named the Gongshow BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 27, the league announced Monday.

Harper led the Cents to three wins on their Vancouver Island road trip and recorded six points in the process. The Coquitlam native began with two goals in an overtime win against Victoria, scored the game-winner plus one helper in a win over Cowichan Valley and took 1st Star in the finale as he tallied a goal and an assist in a win over Nanaimo.

Harper, the active games played leader in the BCHL with 220, now has 27 points and is poised to break his single-season points record from last year when he had 28.
