STORM TO HOLD TEDDY BEAR TOSS FOR CHILDREN IN NEED

Press Release

KEARNEY – One of the most popular traditions in hockey returns to the Viaero Event Center Saturday when the Tri-City Storm hosts its annual Teddy Bear Toss game against Sioux City. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear to the game and throw it on the ice when the Storm score its first goal. Bears will be collected for distribution to area families and children in need through the following organizations:

o  Kearney - Family Advocacy Network, S.A.F.E Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Crossroads Center, Head Start and Women, Infants and Children programs.

o  Grand Island – Crisis Center and Hope Harbor.

o  Lexington – Dawson County Courthouse, Parent-Child Center and YMCA.

“The Teddy Bear Toss is a big tradition in hockey that fans in every league have supported really well,” said Director of Game Operations Kyle Means. “Storm fans are no different. They are very generous when it comes to helping a great cause. Ultimately, this is a fun way to help brighten a kid’s day, knowing that every bear finds a home with a child in need.”

Slumberland Furniture is sponsoring the Teddy Bear Toss. The team also is partnering with Walgreens. Storm fans who purchase bears at Walgreens in Kearney and Grand Island will receive a voucher for a $5 discount on tickets to Saturday’s game.

Fans also will have an opportunity to buy bears that night at the Viaero Event Center for $5.
