CCHL NEILSON-PECKETT AWARD - SCHOLARSHIP AND ABILITY WINNER ANNOUNCED

 The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) is pleased to announce its last award winner for the 2012-13 regular season. The RBC Award/Neilson-Peckett Award goes to the player who combines hockey excellence with academic success. This year the league is proud to announce that Chris Maniccia of the Smiths Falls Bears is the winner of this prestigious award. Maniccia wa an Ontario scholar completing his high school education after the 2011-12 season and is currently enrolled part-time on-line with the University of Athabasca. On the ice, Chris accumulated an impressive 78 points in only 54 games and finished 6th in overall league scoring. The St. Catharines ON native played an integral role in the Bears success this year and looks forward to attending the University of Lowell-Mass next year. Maniccia will now join the other nine Canadian Junior Hockey League winners and be eligible to receive the $5000 RBC National Junior A Scholarship at the awards banquet for the 2013 RBC Cup held in Summerside, PEI. The CCHL is looking at back to back honors as Theo Hannah of the Carleton Place Canadians won last year.
