'Dogs netminder Deo a workhorse on way to Gongshow POW

 Alberni Valley Bulldogs goalie Jay Deo has been named the Gongshow BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 24, the league announced Monday.

Deo posted four wins in helping Alberni Valley to come back and defeat Nanaimo in the Island semifinals and get a split of their first two games against Victoria.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound netminder stopped 164 of the 171 shots he faced in five games including a 39-save effort in Game 4 against Nanaimo. Deo also posted his second shutout of the season, first of the playoffs, in a Game 2 victory against Victoria.

The Langley, B.C. native earned three 1st Star nods in the five games plus one 3rd Star honour while registering a .959 save percentage and 1.41 goals-against average.
