Tyler Wotherspoon Signs With Calgary Flames

Press Release

The Calgary Flames have announced that they have signed Winterhawks defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to a three-year entry level contract. Wotherspoon was drafted by the Flames in the second round, 57th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Wotherspoon registered a career-high 37 points this season (seven goals, 30 assists), and finished second in the WHL in plus/minus at +62, behind only teammate Nic Petan. He has two goals and two assists for four points in five playoff games this season. Wotherspoon also represented Canada at the World Junior Championship this year, where he had a goal and an assist for two points.

“I’m very proud of Tyler for signing with the Flames. He's had an outstanding season and this is a tremendous achievement for him. He has a bright future ahead of him,” said Winterhawks Acting Head Coach Travis Green. “He has worked hard at his game over the past four years and has developed into a top prospect.”
