Press Release
The Calgary Flames have announced that they have signed Winterhawks
defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to a three-year entry level contract.
Wotherspoon was drafted by the Flames in the second round, 57th overall,
in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Wotherspoon registered a
career-high 37 points this season (seven goals, 30 assists), and
finished second in the WHL in plus/minus at +62, behind only teammate

playoff games this season. Wotherspoon also represented Canada at the
World Junior Championship this year, where he had a goal and an assist
for two points.
“I’m very proud of Tyler for signing with the
Flames. He's had an outstanding season and this is a tremendous
achievement for him. He has a bright future ahead of him,” said
Winterhawks Acting Head Coach Travis Green. “He has worked hard at his
game over the past four years and has developed into a top prospect.”
