CHEVELDAVE VAUGHN GOALIE OF THE MONTH

Press Release

The Western Hockey League announced today that Cole Cheveldave, of the Kamloops Blazers, has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for March.

The 19-year-old product of Calgary, AB, posted a 5-2-0 record with two shutouts through seven appearances in the month of March, allowing just 10 goals on 182 shots for a 1.43 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage in that span.  Cheveldave held opposition to two or fewer goals in each of his five wins during March, including shutouts versus B.C. Division rivals Kelowna and Victoria. His efforts earned him 3rd Star honors in three of his seven appearances in March.

Cheveldave finished the 2012-13 WHL regular-season ranked fifth among WHL netminders with a 2.38 goals-against average and tied for third with 36 victories.  The 5’10”, 173-lb netminder is in his second season in the WHL with the Blazers, and has posted a 70-27-3-4 record with 10 shutouts in 111 regular-season contests.

His accomplishments make Cole Cheveldave a deserving choice as the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for March
