Hitmen Host 19th Annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday

Press Release

Join the Calgary Hitmen and Petro-Canada, a Suncor Energy business, for the 19th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday, December 1. The Calgary Hitmen will host the Medicine Hat Tigers at 4 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Tickets are still available for as low as $10 (plus applicable fees) at all Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office. Order online at www.ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000.

Fans are encouraged to come early and are asked to bring a new small or medium-sized stuffed toy to toss onto the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal. This year the demand for stuffed toys from local agencies, including the Salvation Army and Calgary Food Bank, has increased to over 28,000 teddy bears as the June flooding continues to impact a large number of children and families in southern Alberta. Since 1999, the Hitmen, with the support of Petro-Canada, their partners, players, staff and fans, have donated over 213,000 teddy bears to the Calgary community and surrounding area.

During Sunday’s game, players will also wear teddy bear jerseys that will be featured in an online auction, opening December 1 at 4 p.m. and closing Wednesday, December 11 at 9 p.m. Fans can bid on these game-worn teddy bear jerseys by visiting www.elevateauctions.com/teddybeartoss2013. Proceeds from the jersey auction will support the CBC Calgary Suncor Energy Food Bank Drive. Winning bidders will be presented with the teddy bear jerseys following the home game on Tuesday, December 17 against the Regina Pats.

The Avison Young Club Dining Room will be serving a buffet prior to Sunday’s Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss starting at 2:30 p.m. For lunch reservations, call 403-571-9733. The reservation line is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
