Telus Players of the Week

Press Release

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 14, 2009 – Quebec Remparts forward Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Moncton Wildcats goaltender Shane Owen today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from December 7 to 13.

Audy-Marchessault registered three goals and six assists while posting a +5 rating in three games. Moreover, he tallied two game-winners. On Sunday, the sniper tied his career-high by recording five points in a 7-4 win over the Drakkar in Baie-Comeau. It was the second five-point game of his career. Remarkably, the first time Audy-Marchessault accomplished the feat was against the Drakkar on December 30, 2008. The Remparts are at the top of the TELUS Eastern Division standings.

Dmitri Kugryshev (Remparts), Randy Cameron (Wildcats) and Éric Faille (Titan) were also considered.

Shane Owen is the award-winner on defence. The backstop won all three of his starts, stopping 84 of 89 shots. He closed out the week with a 1.67 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage. Furthermore, he helped the Wildcats put a stop to Saint John’s incredible 22-game winning streak yesterday by pushing away 27 shots in a 7-3 win. Moncton is in a three-way tie for second place in the Atlantic Division standings.

Jake Allen (Junior), Adam Janosik (Olympiques) and Marc-Antoine Desnoyers (Voltigeurs) were also considered.
