Devils sign top picks Tedenby, Josefson

Newark, NJ – The Devils today signed two of their top prospects, forwards Mattias Tedenby and Jacob Josefson. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Tedenby, 20, completed his second full season with HV 71 (Swe.) in 2009-10, where he recorded 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points and 30 penalty minutes in 44 games. The 5-9, 170-lb. left wing added two goals and three assists for five points and six penalty minutes in 16 playoff contests en-route to the club’s second Swedish League Championship in three years. Tedenby represented Sweden at each of the last two World Junior Championships winning a Silver Medal in 2009 and a Bronze in 2010 (3g-3a-6pts). Born February 21, 1990 in Vetlanda, Sweden, he will attend his first National Hockey League training camp in September. Tedenby was New Jersey’s first choice and 24th overall selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Josefson, 19, will attend his first NHL training camp after finishing his second full season with Djurgardens (Swe.). The 6-0, 190 lb. center totaled eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points and 20 penalty minutes in 43 regular-season games in 2009-10. Josefson added three goals and two assists for five points and four penalty minutes in 14 playoff appearances as Djurgardens advanced to the Swedish League Finals. Josefson recorded three goals and three assists for six points in six games while representing Sweden for the second consecutive year at the World Junior Championships. He was born March 2, 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden. Josefson was drafted by New Jersey in the first round, 20th overall, in 2009.
