Thrashers Sign Goaltenders Edward Pasquale and Chris Carrozzi

The Atlanta Thrashers have signed goaltenders Edward Pasquale, the team’s fourth round selection (117th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and Chris Carrozzi, the team’s sixth round selection (154th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, according to General Manager Rick Dudley.

Pasquale, 19, appeared in 51 games last season with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, posting a 27-17-5 record with one shutout, a 3.17 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. He was tied for fourth in the OHL in save percentage and shared sixth in wins. The 6-2, 220-pound goaltender also posted a 2-3-1 record with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage in six post-season games.

The Toronto, Ontario, native has posted a 75-48-13 record with two shutouts, a 3.11 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 142 career OHL games with Belleville and Saginaw from 2006 to 2010. Pasquale has added a 6-8-1 record with a 3.22 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage in 16 OHL playoff games, all with Saginaw.

Carrozzi, who was named the 2009-10 Canadian Hockey League and OHL Goaltender of the Year, appeared in 37 games with the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, posting a 19-10-5 record with five shutouts, a 2.36 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. The 6-3, 185-pound goaltender was tied for the league-lead in shutouts and finished second in goals-against average while setting new career-highs in goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts. Carrozzi, 20, posted a 5-1-1 record with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage in eight playoff games this year and also earned the OHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week ending March 28.

The Ottawa, Ontario, native has earned a 76-49-12 record in 156 career games from 2006-2010, all with St. Michael’s, earning a 2.92 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage with 11 shutouts over that span. Carrozzi has appeared in 14 OHL playoff games in his career with St. Michael’s posting a record of 5-5-1 with a goals-against average of 3.08 and a save percentage of .899 with one shutout.
