AMS' RIMMER VAUGHN WHL GOALIE OF THE MONTH

CALGARY, AB. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Ty Rimmer, of the Tri-City Americans, has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for December.

The 19-year-old goaltender posted a 6-0 record through December with one shut-out. Rimmer’s 1.50 goals-against average and 0.945 save percentage led all WHL goaltenders in December, allowing just nine goals on 165 shots-against in 360 minutes played. His efforts also earned him a Three Star selection in four games, with one being a 1st Star.

Rimmer’s consistent play helped the Americans’ go undefeated through December (10-0) and now found themselves with 29-7-0-0 overall record for 58 points, leading the WHL Western Conference and entire League. He also leads all WHL goaltenders with a 2.03 goals-against average and 0.932 save percentage in 22 appearances this year.

Rimmer, an Edmonton, AB native, originally drafted by the Brandon Wheat Kings in 2007, has found a home with the Americans after spending last season with the Prince George Cougars.
