FIGHTING SAINTS ADD SLOVAKIAN FORWARD BUBELA

Press Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Fighting Saints made an offensive upgrade Thursday, adding Slovakian forward Milos Bubela to the roster. Bubela, who recently competed in the World Junior Championships for his native country, will join the Fighting Saints early next week, and is expected to be in the lineup when the Fighting Saints begin a stretch of three games in three days at the end of the week.

Bubela played for the Slovakian National U20 Team this season, scoring five goals and adding eight assists over the course of twenty-seven total games. Under the bright lights of the World Junior Championships in Alberta, Bubela posted five points in six games as the Slovakians advanced to the quarterfinal round. With the conclusion of the World Junior Championships, the Slovakian National Team’s season concluded, allowing Bubela to come to the Fighting Saints.

Fighting Saints Head Coach Jim Montgomery is excited to add the 6’0, 183 pound forward to the Dubuque roster, expecting that he will give the Fighting Saints an advantage in several areas.

“We’re really excited to add Milos to our already talented group of forwards. We think he adds size, depth, and a scoring touch will make us even more dangerous than we already are,” he said. “Milos just performed at a high level on the world stage for Slovakia in the World Junior Championships, and that experience will enable him to have success in the USHL.”
