Ice Forward Hilbrich Commits to Cornell University

The Indiana Ice announced that forward Christian Hilbrich has committed to play collegiate hockey at Cornell University following his USHL career.

Hilbrich has recorded 19 points (8g, 11a) and a plus-five rating while appearing in all 30 games for the Ice this season. The 6-6, 208-pound forward from Clarendon Hills, Illinois is the tallest player in the USHL. He first appeared in the League last season, posting 15 points (10g, 5a) in 50 games with the Ice, including a goal in his first USHL game on October 2nd, 2010.

When he steps on campus at Cornell University, the 19-year-old Hilbrich will be reunited with former Ice teammate Brian Ferlin who is a freshman for the Big Red.

Team USA defenseman Gavin Stoick is also committed to play hockey at Cornell following his USHL career. Cornell University is located in Ithaca, New York and is a member of the ECAC. A total of 11 USHL alumni are on the roster for the Big Red this season, tied for the most USHL alumni of any team in the conference; Cole Bardreau (Team USA), Mathieu Brisson (Omaha Lancers), Armand de Swardt (Chicago Steel), Andy Iles (Team USA), Locke Jillson (Des Moines/Indiana), Vince Mihalek (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Keir Ross (Omaha Lancers), Joakim Ryan (Dubuque Fighting Saints), John McCarron (Lincoln Stars), Brian Ferlin (Indiana Ice), and Jacob MacDonald (Waterloo Black Hawks).
