Musketeers "D" Chooses Bowling Green State University

Press Release

The Sioux City Musketeers announced that defenseman Jose Delgadillo has committed to play collegiate hockey at Bowling Green State University beginning next season.

“Obviously it’s really exciting,” said Delgadillo. “I’ve been waiting three years for it. I took my visit after the season last year and I really liked it a lot. The campus was great and the coaches were really open to me. I think I had a good first half of the season and their coaches saw that, they put an offer on the table and it was one I couldn’t refuse.”

The 19-year-old Delgadillo has recorded a USHL career high eight points (2g, 6a) to go along with 30 penalty minutes while suiting up for all 28 games for the Musketeers this season. His point total this season has more than doubled his output in 97 previous games in the USHL. It is his third season in the League for the native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin as he has collected 15 points (3g, 12a) in 125 career games with the Musketeers. He also appeared in three playoff games last season as he helped the team reach the postseason for the first time since 2008.

“Our staff was very pleased to see Jose sign with Bowling Green,” said Head Coach and General Manager Brett Larson. “He’s a veteran whose abilities you appreciate the more you see him as he’s so sound defensively. He’s one of our anchors on the blueline.”

Lincoln Stars forward Brent Tate and Sioux Falls Stampede defenseman Reed Whiteside are also committed to play hockey at Bowling Green State University.

The school is a member of the CCHA and has a total of 14 USHL alumni on the Falcons roster; Mike Fink (Waterloo/Des Moines), Max Grover (Sioux Falls Stampede), Brett Mohler (Tri-City Storm), Ryan Peltoma (Tri-City Storm), Marc Rodriguez (Sioux Falls Stampede), Ian Ruel (Omaha/Indiana), Robert Shea (Green Bay Gamblers), Jake Sloat (Omaha Lancers), Camden Wojtala (Omaha Lancers), Connor Kucera (Des Moines Buccaneers), Dan DeSalvo (Des Moines Buccaneers), Adam Berkle (Youngstown Phantoms), Marcus Perrier (Sioux Falls Stampede), and Ryan Carpenter (Sioux City Musketeers).
