Screaming Eagles Name New Captain

Press Release

Sydney – Head Coach Ron Choules named 20 year-old Jonathan Brunelle the new captain of the Cape Breton Eagles this morning at a Media Conference at Centre 200. Brunelle replaces Morgan Ellis who was traded to Shawinigan during the recent trade period.

The native of Boisbriand, Quebec was acquired by the Screaming Eagles in June from the Drummondville Voltigeurs.

In naming Brunelle, Choules recognized Brunelle’s strong leadership qualities as one of the main reasons for naming him captain.

“Jonathan played in a Memorial Cup and understands what it takes to prepare yourself to play at the Major Junior level. This is important because we have a number of young players here in Cape Breton at this time and his experience and the way he carries himself as a person and a player will help in their development.”

Choules also announced that Sebastien Payette, Stephen Woodworth and Cory MacIntosh will assume the roles of assistant captains with the Screaming Eagles for the rest of the season.
