VETERAN INDY D-MAN KUQALI TRADED FOR SIOUX CITY’S DELGADILLO

Press Release

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Ice announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Jose Delgadillo (Del-ga-dee-yo) from the Sioux City Musketeers in exchange for defenseman Alexander Kuqali (KOO-call-ee).

Delgadillo was in his third year with Sioux City and posted eight points (2G, 6A) and 36 penalty minutes in 30 games this season. Overall numbers with the Musketeers included 15 points (3G, 12A) and 83 penalty minutes in 127 contests. The 6-2, 191-pound defenseman also has a college commitment from Bowling Green State University.

“Jose is a strong defensive defenseman who will provide us some more veteran leadership,” said Ice head coach Kyle Wallack. “We think he is a great piece to the puzzle as we move forward in our stretch run.”

Kuqali was in his third season as well in Indiana and skated in 112 games with the Ice, compiling 29 points (3G, 26A) and 52 penalty minutes.

“Alexander has been a great contributor to the Ice program the last two and a half years,” said Wallack. He is a quality human being and a great citizen and we know he will continue to have success both in Sioux City and then at RIT.”

In other news, the Ice added forward Kirill Lebedev to their roster. The 20-year-old winger most recently played for Magnitogorsk over in Russia.

“Kirill is a talented forward who plays a hard-nosed type of game,” said Wallack. “He will help us up front especially offensively.”
