Wisconsin’s Dietrich named Sportop performer of the month for December

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Wisconsin Wilderness forward Mike Dietrich has been named the Sportop performer of the month for December.

In eight games during the final month of 2011, the 19-year-old South Hampton, N.J. native recorded points in each of them, which, incidentally, were all Wisconsin victories.

During his award-winning run, Dietrich amassed 10 tallies, including two game-winners, and chipped in with seven assists for 17 total points. Three of those helpers set-up game-winning goals.

On the season the Wilderness forward is currently riding an impressive 20-game scoring streak having racked up 34 total points that includes notching 18 markers in that span.

His efforts have allowed him to slide into second spot in the SIJHL in goals with 23 as well as move into a share of fourth overall in league offensive production. His six game-winners also lead all skaters.

For his on-ice efforts Dietrich will be recognized at a future game and presented with a gift pack courtesy of Sportop Marketing Inc.

Honourable mention for the Sportop performer of the month award for December went to the following:

Ryan Wildman, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Jesse Linner, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Matt Kaarela, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars Hunter Scott (F) Duluth Clydesdales; Matt Grove, (D) Sioux Lookout Flyers and Casey Skolnik, (F) Iron Range Ironheads.
