AJHL Championship Times Are Set

Press Release

The Walpole Express’s Iorio Arena will be the site for the 2012 AJHL Championship Series between the Walpole Express and the New York Bobcats beginning this Saturday, March 17th – 19th.

After once again taking the Regular Season Championship, Walpole advanced to their third straight AJHL Finals after sweeping the New Jersey Rockets 2-0 and the Boston Bulldogs 2-0. In those four games, the Express have a 3:1 ratio of goals for/goals against outscoring their opponents 21-7. They are 9-0-1-0 in their last 10 games and are on the brink of their third straight AJHL Championship.

The New York Bobcats seem to like the drama. Each of their previous two series’ have gone to decisive game 3’s including their semifinal victory against the Northern Cyclones who ended the Bobcats’ season in the semis last year. New York will need to tighten up a few key components in order to take down the defending champs. In their six playoff games so far, the Bobcats are only outscoring their opponents 18-15. Team defense will have to be dialed in to keep Walpole’s high powered offense at bay.

This is where it gets interesting. During the Regular Season, Walpole was 2-2-0-0 against New York with both teams having equal 9 goals for and 9 goals against. It doesn’t get much more of an even and exciting matchup than that.

Game 3 – Monday, March 19th at 2:10OM – Iorio Arena – If Necessary
