Galchenyuk Returns Wednesday

Press Release

Sarnia, On – The Sarnia Sting have announced today that Alex Galchenyuk will make his regular season debut this Wednesday night versus the Saginaw Spirit at the RBC Centre in Sarnia.

Galchenyuk has yet to play a game this season as the result of a knee injury that occurred on September 16th versus the Windsor Spitfires in the pre-season.

Sarnia Sting General Manager Jacques Beaulieu released the following statement regarding the return of Galchenyuk.

“It’s a very exciting day both for Alex and his family along with our organization. It was unfortunate this injury occurred however injuries are a part of the game and we have all dealt with it as best we could. This is a testament to Alex and the work ethic he possesses. It was truly incredible to watch how hard Alex worked throughout his rehabilitation. Also a lot of credit needs to be given to Dr. Giffin and his staff at the Fowler Clinic and our entire team of Doctors including Dr. Vargo, Dr. MacKinlay and Dr. Barwitzki

Beaulieu on how the club prepares to use Alex in the upcoming games.

“Its great that Alex is able to get in a few games prior to the playoffs to help regain some of that game shape that will take some time, that being said how much he plays and in what situations he plays will be monitored very closely. We have to keep in mind what is best for Alex not just this season but for his career moving forward. He has a bright future in this game and that is always the top priority when dealing with any of our players.”
