Indiana Ice Game Moved to University of Notre Dame

Press Release

Due to a scheduling conflict at their home rink, Pepsi Coliseum, the Indiana Ice will be moving their final USHL regular season game on Saturday, April 14th against the Des Moines Buccaneers to the Compton Family Ice Arena on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Game time will be 7:05 p.m. (EST).

Compton Family Ice Arena is the brand new home of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team after opening in October 2011. The open-concourse arena fits approximately 5,000 fans in the seats and concourse area.

“To get a chance to play at Notre Dame with all that tradition and in a brand new building, it’s a cool and unique experience for all the players,” said Indiana Ice head coach Kyle Wallack.”

“The Des Moines Buccaneers are excited to play at the University of Notre Dame and the Compton Family Center, “said Buccaneers head coach Regg Simon. “It will be a great experience for players from both organizations and we are looking forward to it.”

The USHL has played a significant role on the Fighting Irish roster as 19 of their current players spent time previously in the nation’s only Tier 1 junior hockey league.

The Ice and Buccaneers are both represented in South Bend as the 2011-12 Irish roster features former Indy forward Peter Schneider and former Des Moines forward T.J. Tynan. Schneider is a freshman on this year’s team, while Tynan is a sophomore forward who finished the year tied for first in the CCHA in scoring.

The Notre Dame roster also includes 2010 Clark Cup Playoff MVP Anders Lee (Green Bay) and 2009-10 USHL Goaltender of the Year Steven Summerhays (Green Bay).

Tickets for the USHL clash up north will go on sale Wednesday, March 7th beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Notre Dame’s Murnane Ticket Office, by calling 574-631-7356 or by logging on to www.und.com/tickets. Prices start at just $10 for adults and $5 for youth/seniors. Service charges may apply.
