SIVNERT COMMITS TO BEMIDJI STATE

Press Release

Haverhill, MA- Following one of the most dominating performances by a netminder in recent Valley Jr. Warriors history, Fabian Sivnert will soon take his talents to Bemidji State University.

The first-year netminder from Höllviken, Sweden, announced that he has accepted a four-year scholarship to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) powerhouse in Minnesota.

“We are thrilled for Fabian and excited for the staff at Bemidji State University,” said Andy Heinze, head coach/general manager of the Warriors. “Fabian has established himself as one of the top netminders in the EJHL and our coaching staff is confident that he will make a smooth transition to Division I competition.”

Sivnert has been a key cog in the Warriors’ successful season which has seen the team finish the regular season with a 27-16-2 record and most recently earn a second straight appearance in the EJHL Gary Dineen Cup Playoffs.

Sivnert finished the regular season as one of the league’s top goaltenders with an 18-9-2 record including three shutout victories. He led the league with 903 saves and posted a 2.53 goals against average (3rd) and a .926 save percentage (2nd). He also spent more than 1,710 minutes between the pipes which was a mark bested by just one other league netminder. Sivnert's strong performance earned him a spot in this year’s EJHL All-Star Game.

“I honestly have not seen many other players who understand their position as well as Fabian does,” said Heinze. “He plays the angles well and is technically solid so that he limits the number of opportunities for the shooters.”

Before he suits up for the Beavers, however, Sivnert will be doing his part to help his Warriors squad during the 2012 EJHL Gary Dineen Cup Playoffs.
