Winkler Flyers’ Fainman named RBC Player of Month

Press Release

The RBC Player of the Month for February is Daniel Fainman of the Winkler Flyers. The 19-year-old exploded for 23 points ( 5-18) in 11 games for the Flyers who are facing Winnipeg Blues in the first-round Addison Division playoffs.

The runners up are Brendan Harms, 17, of the Portage Terriers and 20 year old forward Jason Gardiner of the Winnipeg Saints.

Sherwood Hockey Defenseman of the Month

Paul Bonar, 20, of the Winnipeg Blues was honoured as top D-Man for the month of February. The veteran blueliner was steady in his zone, in addition to contributing offensively with 13 points (1-12 in 10 games played).

The runners up are 20 year old Brenden Kotyk of the Dauphin Kings and 20 year old Dylan Heide of the Selkirk Steelers.

MGEU Goaltender of the Month

The MGEU Goaltender of the Month is 18 year old Jayson Argue of the Swan Valley Stampeders. He was outstanding in February, reflected in a 1.87 GAA and .933 save percentage.

His record in February was 5-3, and more importantly, his steady play led the Stamps to the post season. He was also honoured recently, named the MJHL’s CJHL Player of the Year, in addition to being named the MJHL’s MVP.

The runners up are 19 year old Dawson Guhle of the Dauphin Kings and 18 year old Isaiah Plett of the Winnipeg Blues.

Husky Energy Rookie of the Month

The Husky Energy Rookie of the Month is Derrick Brooks of the Neepawa Natives. The 18-year-old forward tallied 11 points (5-6) in 11 games for the Natives.

The runners up are 18 year old forward Justin Valentino of the Swan Valley Stampeders and 17 year old defenseman Tanner Jago of the Winkler Flyers.
