Duluth’s Austin Loes named Pizza Hut player of the week

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Duluth Clydesdales forward Austin Loes has been named the Pizza Hut player of the week for the period concluding Jan. 6

Loes made the most of his club’s lone game of the week by scoring twice, including the game-winner, while also dishing out three assists in helping lead the Clydesdales to a 9-3 romp over visiting Thunder Bay on Sunday afternoon as Duluth put an end to an 18-game winless drought.

The 18-year-old native of Mitchell, S.D., has nine points in his first seven games in a Clydesdales’ uniform. Loes also has a modest three-game point streak on the go.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Jeremy Johnson, (F) Minnesota Wilderness; Patrick Sofer, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Trevor Hoth, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Chris Belhumeur, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs and Bryce Maggrah, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.

At the conclusion of the 2012-13 regular season, the SIJHL’s top performer will earn the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
