Sioux City Musketeers forward Tanner Pond has committed to play college hockey at Northeastern University following his USHL career.
Pond has collected 16 points (9g, 7a) in 30 games, already achieving
USHL season highs in goals, assists, and points for the third-year
forward. The 19-year-old is currently fifth in team scoring while
leading the Musketeers with 114 penalty minutes. He has scored four of
his goals over the last seven games.
It is the first year in a Musketeers uniform after spending his first
two USHL seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Over 110 career
regular season games in the League, the Michigan native has produced 35
points (17g, 18a) and 246 penalty minutes. Pond has also added one goal
in eight USHL playoff contests.
Eight other current USHL players have committed to play hockey at Northeastern University; Garrett Cockerill (Des Moines Buccaneers), Matt Benning (Dubuque Fighting Saints), John Stevens (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Mike Szmatula (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Zach Aston-Reese (Lincoln Stars), Ross Olsson (Lincoln Stars), Daniel Willett (Lincoln Stars), and Jason Cotton (Tri-City Storm).
