PIACENTINI COMMITS TO MERCYHURST

Press Release

North York Rangers defenceman Patrick Piacentini  has confirmed his commitment to join the Mercyhurst College Lakers beginning with the 2014-15 Atlantic Hockey season.

The 5'7", 155 lbs. native of Vaughan, Ontario began his OJHL career as a member of his hometown Vipers in 2010-11, playing eight games for the club, while recording two assists.  Last season he made the fulltime jump to junior hockey, playing 47 regular season games with the Vipers, while notching two goals and nineteen points to finish second among defencemen in scoring.  The rookie rearguard would first earn an invite to the 2011 CJHL Prospect Games in Langley, B.C. as a member of Team East, who would fall to Team West 9-6 in the two game series.  Then during the Christmas holidays, Piacentini would suit-up as a member of Team South at the inaugural Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge played in Smiths Falls, Ontario.

With the Vaughan Vipers suspending operations this past off-season, Piacentini was quickly picked-up by the nearby North York Rangers and has anchored the club's defence-corps thus far in 2012-13.  He currently sits third overall on the club with 29 assists, while leading the team with 18 power play assists and the Rangers' defencemen with 32 points.  Piacentini's 18 power play assists also rank second in the entire OJHL among defenceman and his 32 points is tied for second overall.  For the second consecutive year, he competed as a member of the OJHL South Division All-Stars at the Central Canada Cup in Wellington, Ontario.

Congratulations to Patrick on achieving his NCAA dream!
