RBC PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER

Press Release

RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Colby Daniels, Kindersley Klippers

1994 F Colby Daniels (Leask SK) fired 7-goals and 9-assists in 9-games during the month of December to lead all SJHL players.  He had points in eight of the nine games he played and has points in eleven of his last twelve overall.  He had a pair of three-point games (both of which were games in which he scored twice).  He enters January with goals in three of his last four.  It’s been a breakout season for Daniels with 17-goals and 16-assists in 31-games.  Daniels is in his second SJHL season after playing last year as a 17-year-old.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH
Josh Roach, Flin Flon Bombers

1992 D Josh Roach (Saskatoon SK) continues to set the pace amongst offensive defensemen in the SJHL as he compiled 5-goals and 5-assists in 9-games played during the month of December.  Furthermore, Roach is providing leadership skills as a player who has played on a championship team to his new club that is a strong contender but has no real experience marching through the playoffs.  Roach has also been a stalwart defensively; but is most known for his name being, frequently, on the score sheet.  He has 10-goals and 28-assists in 36-games overall, which ranks tops for defense scoring and third overall.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Shaun MacPherson, Kindersley Klippers

1994 D Shaun MacPherson (Edmonton AB) entered the SJHL in September regarded as one of the top rookies for scouts and fans to keep an eye on, and he’s living up to the promise with each passing week and it appears as though he’s really coming into his own as the season enters the second half.  MacPherson finished the month with 3-goals and 5-assists in 9-games played and had points in six of the first seven games he played during the month of December.  He begins the New Year with 3-goals and 15-assists in 32-games this season.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
Matt Hrynkiw, Humboldt Broncos

1992 G Matt Hrynkiw (Saskatoon SK) wins the award for the second straight month, by virtue of his 4-and-2 won-loss record and a miniscule 1.34-GAA, 2-shutouts, and a lofty .947-SPCT.  He ended the month with back to back shutouts, on the road, making 23-saves in Melville and then two nights later he blocked 35 in North Battleford.  Since November 6th, Hrynkiw hasn’t given up more than three goals in a game and has allowed two or fewer in eleven of his last twelve starts.
