Langley
Rivemen forward Derek Sutliffe has been named the Gongshow BCHL Player
of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6, the league announced Monday.
Sutliffe
led the Rivermen to a pair of wins and scored the overtime game-winner
and a 1st Star nod in a 4-3 victory over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The previous night, the Las Vegas product assisted on the game-winning
goal plus one other in a 6-3 Langley win over division rival Chilliwack.
The
6-foot-1, 170-pound forward's contribution helped the Rivermen leapfrog
the Coquitlam Express in the Mainland Division standings and into the
final playoff spot.
