Rivermen forward Sutliffe produced OT game-winner on way to Gongshow POW

Langley Rivemen forward Derek Sutliffe has been named the Gongshow BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6, the league announced Monday.

Sutliffe led the Rivermen to a pair of wins and scored the overtime game-winner and a 1st Star nod in a 4-3 victory over the Cowichan Valley Capitals. The previous night, the Las Vegas product assisted on the game-winning goal plus one other in a 6-3 Langley win over division rival Chilliwack.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound forward's contribution helped the Rivermen leapfrog the Coquitlam Express in the Mainland Division standings and into the final playoff spot.
