Subban joins Team Cherry in Home Hardware Top Prospects Game

Press Release

TORONTO, ON - Just one week away from the big game, Jordan Subban is getting the call. With an injury to Brandon Wheat Kings blueliner Ryan Pulock, Subban has been added to Team Cherry's roster for the upcoming Home Hardware Top Prospects Game on January 16th at the Halifax Metro Centre.

Subban, who has turned heads with his offensive vision, creativity and continually improving defensive game, has been a key contributor for Belleville this season. He was Belleville's first round selection (5th overall) in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

The native of Rexdale and younger brother of Bulls goaltender Malcolm Subban led Belleville in scoring for much of the season and currently has 7 goals and 20 assists in 39 games. Subban is the 17th ranked OHL player in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's Preliminary Draft Rankings.

Last year's game in Kelowna, BC featured ten players that were selected in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft including Bulls centreman Brendan Gaunce. Since the game was first introduced in 1996 it has featured ten players who were taken with the first overall pick in the NHL Draft.

Subban joins top draft prospects in Jonathan Drouin (Halifax), Nathan MacKinnon (Halifax) and Darnell Nurse (Sault Ste. Marie) on Team Cherry as they square off against Seth Jones (Portland) and Team Orr on February 16th at 7:00pm on Sportsnet.
