Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Austin
Lotz of the Everett Silvertips is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
for the week ending December 30 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a
goals-against-average of 0.98 and save percentage of .973.
Lotz backstopped the Silvertips to a pair of one-goal victories
against U.S Division rivals the Seattle Thunderbirds. On Friday night
he made 38 saves including 17 in the third period as first star
preserving a 2-1 win, then on Saturday he made 34 saves as second star
of a 2-1 overtime decision.
Lotz, a 17-year-old from St. Adolphe, Manitoba, is playing in his
second WHL season with the Silvertips. So far this season he carries a
3.35 goals-against-average and a .900 save percentage in 21 games
posting a 7-12-0-1 record.
Also considered for the award this week was Christopher Gibson of the
Chicoutimi Sagueneens after posting a 1-1-0-0 record with a
goals-against-average of 2.53 and save percentage of .931, and Brandon
Hope of the Owen Sound Attack who went 2-0-0-0 with a
goals-against-average of 1.50 and save percentage of .944.
