The Portland Winterhawks have signed defenseman Justin Greer, the team’s
fourth round pick, 86th overall, in the 2012 Western Hockey League
Bantam Draft. Greer, 15, is eligible to join the team next season.
The
Edmonton, Alberta, native is playing this season for CAC United Cycle
in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League, where he has three goals
and 12 assists for 15 points in 18 games.
Last season with the
CAC Canadians Bantam AAA team in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League
he led all 1997-born defensemen in scoring with six goals and 28 assists
for 34 points in 28 games.
“Justin is a two-way defenseman with
excellent size. He has strong offensive instincts and plays the game
with passion. We feel he will be a big part of our program in the coming
years,” said Portland Winterhawks Acting Head Coach and Assistant
General Manager Travis Green. “We’re excited to have Justin signed and
look forward to him joining the team.”
