Winterhawks Sign Justin Greer

Press Release

The Portland Winterhawks have signed defenseman Justin Greer, the team’s fourth round pick, 86th overall, in the 2012 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. Greer, 15, is eligible to join the team next season.

The Edmonton, Alberta, native is playing this season for CAC United Cycle in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League, where he has three goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 18 games.

Last season with the CAC Canadians Bantam AAA team in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League he led all 1997-born defensemen in scoring with six goals and 28 assists for 34 points in 28 games.

“Justin is a two-way defenseman with excellent size. He has strong offensive instincts and plays the game with passion. We feel he will be a big part of our program in the coming years,” said Portland Winterhawks Acting Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Travis Green. “We’re excited to have Justin signed and look forward to him joining the team.”
