Press Release

Marlboro, MA- Dominic Trento and Michael Barrett each scored two goals to lead the Jersey Hitmen to an 8-2 win over the Islanders Hockey Club on Friday afternoon.

The Islanders grabbed an early lead just 1:55 into the game when Conor MacPhee stole the puck from one of the Hitmen, skated it in, and backhanded it past Hitmen goaltender Chris Funkey.

MacPhee’s goal proved to be the only tally of the first period.

Trento tied the game at one with 8:12 remaining in the second period when he took a pass from Eric Sade at the top of the circle and bounced it off Islanders goaltender Colton Phinney and into the net. Tim Clifton also assisted on the play.

Thirty seconds later, Michael Doherty and Chris Izmirlian set up MacPhee for his second of the game to put the Islanders back in front.

With 1:02 to play in the period, John Furgele passed the puck to Michael Barrett in the slot and Barrett ripped a shot past Phinney to tie the game.

Trevor Owens gave the Hitmen their first lead of the game 24 seconds into the final period when he took a pass from Brendan Bradley and fired it in from the point. Andrew Black also received credit for an assist.

The Hitmen extended the lead to 4-2 with a power play goal at 5:54. Andrew Black sent a pass to John Furgele at the top of the slot and Furgele ripped a shot, which was tipped by Trento into the net.
