Pistons' Chagnon named Player of the Week

Press Release

Steinbach Pistons’ forward Mitch Chagnon has been named MJHL Player of the Week after recording six powerplay assists for the week ending December 19.

The native of Kenora scored a total of 10 points (2-8) for the Pistons who currently sit fourth in the Addision Division with 13 wins and 29 points after 37 games. Over his hot three-game stretch last week, Chagnon, 19, obviously took a page out of the scoring book of his favourite NHL player, Pavel Datsyuk of Detroit Red Wings, who knows where to find the net.

Runners-up for the Player of the Week honours went to Winkler Flyers’ forward Jordan Neduzak and forward Kyle Johnson of the Dauphin Kings.

Neduzak, 18, recorded six points (1-5) in two games last week for the Flyers who have 20 wins after 38 games. Neduzak, who hails from Morden, is a key member of the offensive attack, sitting fourth in the Flyers’ scoring race with 10 goals and 32 points after 37 games.

Johnson, who was named a Player of the Week last month, scored three powerplay goals in two games. In total, he registered six points (3-3) for the Kings.
