USHL Honors - Week Twelve

Press Release

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the twelfth week of the 2010-11 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Jimmy Mullin of the Fargo Force, named CCM Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Rick Pinkston of Tri-City Storm, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Brady Hjelle of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders who earned honors as the Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Mullin recorded six points (3g, 3a) and a plus-four rating to lead the Force to a pair of weekend victories. He scored four points (2g, 2a) in the first period of the 6-1 win over Team USA on Friday. The 18-year-old then scored the game-tying goal in the third period on Saturday vs. Sioux Falls and added a shootout goal in the 4-3 victory. It is the second weekly honor this season for the first-year USHL forward. Mullin is currently riding a four-game point streak (4g, 4a) and ranks fourth overall in League scoring with 27 points (12g, 15a) in 20 games.

Pinkston scored three points (2g, 1a) and posted a plus-two rating as the Storm captured two road victories during the weekend. He tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a span of under six minutes during the third period of Friday's 4-2 win over Muskegon. The 20-year-old defenseman dished out an assist in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Chicago, helping the Storm extend their win streak to three games. It is the third USHL season for the Trenton, Michigan native who has posted 11 points (3g, 8a) in 22 games, equaling his point total in 55 games from a season ago.

Hjelle allowed just one goal over two games to lead the RoughRiders to a pair of wins. He made 34 saves in the 2-1 win against Omaha on Friday. The 20-year-old then stopped all 25 shots he faced in the 5-0 win over Waterloo on Saturday. It was his third shutout of the season which is tied for the lead among all USHL goaltenders. The native of International Falls, Minnesota leads USHL netminders in victories, earning 16 of the 17 wins for Cedar Rapids this season. Hjelle is second overall in the League in both goals-against-average (1.82) and save percentage (.934).
