Slavin Commits To Colorado College

The Colorado Thunderbirds U16 team is pleased to announce that Jaccob Slavin has committed to play college hockey for the Colorado College Tigers of the WCHA starting in the fall of 2013. Jaccob, born in 1994, is a defenseman and captain of the Colorado Thunderbirds U16 team and is from Erie, CO. He has played ten games with the Chicago Steel of the USHL this season this season. He has been a member of the Thunderbird program since his peewee major season.

"Jaccob is a special talent and has really blossomed into an elite player this season. He possesses great hockey sense and leadership skills. CC is very fortunate to be getting such a terrific role model and hockey player," said Angelo Ricci, Director of Hockey Operations. "The Thunderbird organization continues to provide an avenue for the elite student-athlete to develop and advance to the highest levels.

Jaccob is the fourth member of the Thunderbird program to commit to a NCAA Division 1 Hockey program this season.

Slavin is a talented kid with good vision and slick moves with the puck. I know he's a local kid, but you'd think he could have gone to a better school.

Then again, if Minnesota and Wisconsin leave the WCHA, you have to think that CC, DU and North Dakota (and Notre Dame if they join) will be the class of the WCHA.
