Americans Prospect Spagrud Commits to Team

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans’ General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 15-year-old prospect Justin Spagrud to a standard WHL Player's Contract.

Spagrud, a 6’0 160 lb. forward from Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, is currently playing with the Swift Current Legionnaires of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey league. Heading into the weekend, Spagrud has collected nine goals and 15 points in 32 games. The Americans’ third round (63rd overall) pick from the 2010 bantam draft, Spagrud will also skate for Team Saskatchewan at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, being held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 11-27.

“Justin is one of the top 1995-aged players in Western Canada,” Tory explained. “We are pleased that he has chosen the WHL, and our program, to pursue his hockey ambitions.”

Next fall, Spagrud will participate in both the Americans’ rookie and main training camps in Kennewick.
